Memorial for the Berkeley Victims
Last Tuesday, the lives of six young people were tragically cut short when a balcony collapsed in Berkeley, CA. Olivia Burke, 21, Eimear Walsh, 21, Eoghan Culligan, 21, Niccolai Schuster, 21 and Lorcan Miller, 21 were all Irish J1 students visiting for the summer months. Ashley Donohoe 22, was an native of California, born to Irish parents who emigrated to the United States. Seven other individuals were seriously injured in the incident, two of whom remain in critical condition.
We are calling on the Irish community of Chicago to stand together in the wake of this calamity by attending a memorial service that will honor the lives of the victims as well as offer support to their loved ones, the survivors, and local Irish J1 students.
